CHT Probe
Dear Sirs,
the CHT probe for the rear engine on my 336 has failed. I have owned the plane for 13 years and have never touched it before, so no complaints. Of course the OLD style Probe is discontinued. Does any one have a spare that they can part with? To the best of my knowledge they are all pretty much the same. A simple screw in, looks like a tiny spark plug, with a small screw out of the Top/Bottom for attaching the electrical connector. I have called Commodore Aerospace and Aviation Enterprises with no luck so far. Please do let me know if you have one or know of where one is. Regards, James Grant N3845U 205-799-1716 |

James
I just bought one a few months ago and will check where I got it. I know that Don from Commodore told me that it is best to change the gauge and the probe so that they are calibrated. I didn't buy both, just the probe. My gauges have never matched and that is probably why. No worries though because the next flight I make I will be relying on the JPI EDM 760 that I am currently installing. I will look and see where I purchased the probe from. Will it be the same as yours? Same engine, right?

CHT Probe
Dear Sir,
IO-360A on the 336. The Cylinders are the same though. I agree with matching the probe to the gauge, BUT, it is a lot easier and cheaper to just calibrate the system as a whole once the probe is replaced. Not a bad idea anyway, who knows when or if it was last done. Regards, James |

CHT Probe
Dear Sirs,
thanks to all for your help. Problem solved. Good CHT readings again. One day all the old gauges will come out and something new and shiny will go in their place. Until then, what has been good for the last 47 years should continue to do the job. Thanks again. James |
